Calligaris is a historical Italian design brand producing furniture and design complements since 1923. Over the last 95 years, the name managed to expand itself to 100 countries, with over 620 shops, and in 3 Flagship stores. The CODE collection is Calligaris’ young and smart side, is an incubator of projects.
Calligaris CODE stands for Complements Design, products inspired by the “Smart Attitude” philosophy of Calligaris.
Our task was to define the concept for the collection, its strategy, and the entire visual identity. Starting from the logotype, the tasks included the creation of an online/offline communication infrastructure.
During the identification of a logo to represent this capsule collection, we were inspired by the typical elliptical pattern of the DNA genome.

The key concept that inspires the entire collection resides in the transposition of the “Calligaris DNA,” crystallized in the 90 years of the brand, which is transferred onto a new more updated collection interpreted by young aspiring designers but while remaining faithful to its origin and integrated with the main collection. Fresh and irreverent typography, the Utopia, and a red equidistant diagonal lined pattern complete the image.
For this reason, was chosen the Utopia typography designed by RM&CO as it reflects the concepts of “genome” and adds a 3D component, which refers to the metricity of the objects that compose it.
Added to this is the rotation component that sets out to apply the 360° approach to the world of the accessory of the CODE brand.
